MOTHER IN LAW PART 10

AND HIS BIRTHDAY IS 4TH OF OCTOBER

She wore a dark sunglasses. I told mama I loved her glasses; asking her where she got it from. I walked closer to check the brand on it and jokingly I pulled the glasses to check the authenticity with a smile of “mama you are too much”. As I removed the glasses mama closed her eyes all through, then I knew there was problem. I now cannot see the eyes I was told to look inside. I replaced mama’s glasses and decided I’ll call the Ijebu father, to tell him about the new development.

The drive home was splendid and loving. Patrick bought ice cream for me; a habit he had soon lost. I was happy but a little bit guilty. I felt like telling him how far I’ve gone to restore this marriage, but something kept telling me I shouldn’t do that. That night was better than our wedding night, it was a great reunion.

The next morning I told Betty about the development, and we called Ijebu father together. I narrated the whole incidence and how she closed her eyes. The man now told me that, mama was told not to look into my eyes; else the juju they gave her would expire. Thus he just told me what to do to neutralize, but now he wants to neutralize it from his place.

He called back after a while and told me to buy a white cock and give mama. I hurriedly went to Utako market to purchase the sacrificial cock, and drove to mama’s place. On getting there she was planning to go out. She hurriedly wore her shades again as I greeted her. She said she is going to the hospital for checkup. What happened mama? She said: doctor told her not to be eating chicken again, and she did, so she’s feeling a little down. How would I now give chicken to her after complains she has given. I walked her to the car and waved as she left.

I and my husband were getting back but a re-occurrence would be worse than this. I got home that night with the chicken and gave the security men to kill and share it. When I entered the house; Patrick was sleeping and I wondered if this young man would know the battle being fought because of him? I woke him up after a while and discovered Patrick wasn’t moving. I tapped him more and more until it became done on me he wasn’t moving. I touched his palm and legs and it felt cold. I didn’t want to think and shout. I rushed to the kitchen and brought a bowl of water; sprinkled it on him and nothing changed. At this point I have started crying. I called Baba immediately to report the situation. He said I should put my mouth in his ears and shout his name. I tried the first time it didn’t work. It only called the attention of the securities. The second time was louder and with a push, he woke up from the deep sleep shouting mama why now. I gave him some water to drink and pet him.

He asked why I was crying but I couldn’t talk. I begged him to rest as he narrated his dream to me. He had a confrontation with mama in his sleep. Mama was forcing him to marry another girl saying, I was a witch. He did not agree though. Immediately he finished, mama called my phone……. Hello mama, hello my daughter. Please tell Patrick to go back to sleep I want to talk to him. I felt I didn’t hear what she said before. I asked her again what she said, and she repeated it. I held the phone away from my ear and told Patrick mama said you should go back to sleep she wants to talk to you, and the idiot was about laying on the couch to sleep again. That was when I brought to bucket of water.

Which sleep? You will never sleep in Jesus name. My first vigil was kept that night with two slaps. With the help of the securities, he couldn’t bruise me. When it was dawn around 6 am; a car horn was pressing at the gate, so I sent one of our securities to check who was there. Stupidly he came back with the person and to my surprise it was Baba. He came to calm Patrick’s nerves. That was the beginning of the end. When Baba entered he shut me up with his fingers and put out a rod to touch Patrick. Suddenly all his nerves became calm. He washed his face with some kind of water and he came back to his senses. As Baba was explaining the whole situation to him; I heard a bang at the gate. When the security man opened it, mama was coming with so much fury and Baba laughed ………. Then

MOTHER IN LAW PART 9

LAUGH IT OFF
I needed to tell my husband where I was going to. It was also Betty that reminded me of a wedding ceremony I could use as an excuse to leave the house. I called Patrick since he has been to the house in straight three days that I would be going for a wedding ceremony and would be there for three days. He willingly granted my request and I could feel the hatred in his voice. The trip was supposedly long trip, but every meter we covered, I knew I was close to my deliverance.

Three states was the distance we needed to cover before getting to Ogun state and Ijebu ode was a popular place in the state. The herbalist’s house was a well finished bungalow with a fountain. But the statues inside the compound are the only scary things. We walked into a well furnished living room with a flat screen TV and DSTV.

I was getting a little more surprised on how this enlightened person can be an herbalist. It took a while before he came out and amazingly he was using a Sony Eriksson P900i. He greeted in English before my friend’s secretary started the explanation. He asked for fifty bucks and said I should talk to the oracle. He poured the oracle on the leather sheet on the table, and started touching it like he was checking the coordinates.

He spoke to a small carving beside him and told me the full story of what I was going through and how it happened. He said my mother in-law is in charge of all these. That before the end of the month, my husband would drive me out of the house and remarry.

He commanded me to touch the oracle and tap my forehead three times. He asked for their names and said we should go. No powder, no charm, nothing, he just told us to go. But he gave a very great warning.

Baba: when next you see your mother in law keep looking straight into her eyes. We greeted him and left. We promised to return when things go right. I didn’t believe him. how can one travel all the way from Abuja to solve a problem and all he collected was fifty bucks. Secondly there was nothing to show we had done something.

I persuaded Betty and her secretary that we should check another person. On our way to the new place my phone rang. It was an unknown number. I picked and the voice wasn’t familiar. He introduced himself as the man we just left. That we shouldn’t go anywhere else…….. I felt some chill run through my body. How did he know what we were planning? There I believed him.

I stayed the next two days in a lovely hotel I Lagos and the third I flew back with Betty to Abuja. I went straight to my mother in law’s house and I saw Patrick there. Immediately I opened the gate, he ran to welcome me.

Patrick: baby I missed you, you stayed too long. He gave a deep kiss like the one of wedding’s day and I pet him also. I knew Baba ha activated the ogbundugbudu. I walked into the house and asked where mama was. She was in the bathroom thus I waited for her to finish. Patrick was in a hurry that we should go home. He was actively in love and horny I guess. I slowed him down and as mama came outside I looked into her eyes and then she ……..

MOTHER IN LAW PART 8

And that was her first encounter with Pastor Julius. It was an orchestrated move from a wife that needs her mother in law out of her family. Pastor Julius walked into the hairdressing salon and greeted all the women “peace unto you all”. Whoever comes with peace must also be greeted with peace. Pastor Julius continued with a short prayer, and from that moment, prophecies and visions from the twenty seconds prayer was the order of the day.

He picked on mama immediately, and started telling her things about herself that no stranger should have known. How many children she has and that her husband is late. How she gave birth to the son. That she has a son married but not living with her. When it got to my part of her story, she became most attentive.

Pastor Julius made mama understand that the future of the family lies in me. But the future might not be met because they are tampering with it. He told mama to apologize to me if she has offended me, and make sure they pamper me without reasons. She believed all pastor Julius as told her. She dipped her hand inside her bag to bless the work of the pastor but he refused. What God has sent him to deliver is for no fee. That increased how genuine he was; thus his number was collected for further consultation.

Immediately he left the place, he called me. I called my husband that I want to tell him something. Sweetheart I had a dream, that mama came to the house to apologize to us. But she had come with some spiritual powers that the more we listened to her; the worse things would happen in our family. But I know it might just be a dream anyway.

When mama got home, she became restless. She doesn't want to do anything that would jeopardize the future of her only son, so she packed some food stuffs, stopped at a supermarket to beef it up, and straight to our house she came. This was almost three hours after I narrated my dream. It was Patrick that first saw mama. She called the driver and the security to pack the things out of the car and Patrick stopped. For the first time he looked into his mother’s eyes, and asked what those things are meant for. She said she just came to apologize…… the moment Patrick heard “apologize” he sent her out of his house, and told her not to ever come again.

I have all the rights in my house now, and I can do whatever pleases me. I ran outside in the middle of all these and knelt down to greet mama but Patrick shouted at me also. He told me to get inside, thus I blinked at mama that I’ll come see her later.

The next morning saw me at the Maitama mansion to hear what she has to say. I was now the link between mother and son, and that is how it’s supposed to be. I blamed myself for not knowing this ever since. When I saw mama crying I felt so bad, but I can’t compromise my happiness for her pains. I encouraged her a while and proceeded into advice, that I’ll talk to Patrick and find out why he is behaving that irrational. She begged me for all she has done, and as I was leaving, Mrs Fatima was walking into the house. She saw mama crying also and asked what it was. I just greeted them and was off.

The presence of Mrs Fatima didn’t send any message to me. Mama had narrated the whole episode her extended family is turning into. She is a compassionate woman, thus she invited her to another place and that was in Ogorimagogo.

I made breakfast that morning for my husband and I. Normally I boil one egg then fry one for him. We sat at the dining table together and even had a short prayer before something came over him. He looked at the fried egg and told me it was smaller than the boiled egg. He complained about eggs so well, that he said he wasn’t eating again. He walked into his room to get his jacket and mistakenly it was on the floor. It dropped when I was closing the wardrobe. Before I could finish my statement the first slap arrived. I didn’t gain my consciousness till I heard the front door close. The next three weeks saw Patrick eating in his mother’s house. I hurriedly called Julius for renewal of lies and surprisingly when he was speaking with me; he was in the same place with mama and Patrick. Then I knew something was really wrong.

I had nowhere to go. I had to do something. I visited Betty in her office and told her my problems. Her secretary overheard what we were saying and suggested a venue for my deliverance. It was going to be a long trip to Ijebu Ode (the land of the spirits).

MOTHER IN LAW PART 7

CHINYERE

I have always heard about rape, but now I just understood what it was. I woke up in the hospital and beside me was Patrick, my mum, my sister and Betty. It was the fourth day before I was found by the police. I had been raped I know, but the truth was, it was hard for me to believe. I had glimpse of what happened in the uncompleted building still flashing through my mind. Everybody was happy I opened my eyes, but I felt like dying. I thought to myself if I was dead it would have been better……… many other thoughts were roaming until the doctor entered the ward I was kept. He held my hand to check my pulse, and was opening my eyes wide. I gathered all my strength and asked the doctor softly “how is my baby”. He said all is well. I was so happy. Then Patrick bent beside me with a kiss, and told me to keep quiet and rest.

The memories were agonizing as it took forever for me to forget them. I was in the hospital for another 24 hours but now I could talk. It was the next morning it struck me that my mother in law hasn’t shown up to the hospital to show sympathy. I asked how she was, and everyone responded she was fine.

The doctor discharged with so many drugs and rules on how to live for the next couple of days, to finalize the healing. A psychologist came and talked to me also about the whole rape thing. I hated the advice; as it made me remember the whole incident that happened to me. It was from the psychologist, that I knew it was three days of agony I passed through.

We passed through mama’s house to pack my things and go to our house. I have begged my mum to come stay with us a little, while I heal. She needed to go home first, to tell my father about my state. The car horn was extra low as I was kept as a patient that needed no noise. I guessed mama wasn’t at home, thus I hurried to pack my things. I came down from the car to point out some things to Patrick as we entered the sitting room. To my greatest surprise mama was there making her nails, and reading the book she bought. With a side eye she looked at us, and greeted welcome oooo.

I was about going into shock again. I sat in the sitting room without responding to her greeting. It was when Patrick brought out my box that he broke the other camel’s back.
Mama: En en my son, that lady Chinyere is in your house now. I said she should be helping you before your so called wife would recover.

I turned to her and said thank you mama and we left. When I got home, the stench of Chinyere has taken over the house. She helped with the bags into the house. I asked where she was staying and she said visitor’s room. I told her to get her things and move to the boys quarters which she did. After thirty minutes she came back to the house to ask what she could help with, and I softly told her not to bother for the day again. She spent the next three days that way…..

After two days I was strong enough to fight the real fight for my family. Patrick called me aside and told me we’ve lost the baby. I was broken but not as much as how mama as lied about what happened. When I told him what happened; he promised he was never going to see his mum nor talk to her again. Men are just too weak though. I narrated how mama wanted me to sleep with someone else, and how I ran out of the place. The keke driver and those other guys were supposed to have rescued me, not knowing they had intentions.

Patrick started crying and held me in apology. I could see the disgust in his eyes. He wanted his mother dead if possible. It was at this point his confessions started.

Patrick: mama had told me another thing completely. She said you were the one that invited the boys to the church. That they really came with charms with my name marked on it. That the deliverance she had been talking about was what saved me. When she even reported about you being missing; she made it look like you ran away. It was the fact from the kidnappers that exposed they were sent to bring someone for rituals but your pregnancy made you impossible for their rituals. Mama said that it was better for me to build a better future for myself, and that was what Chinyere was sent here for. I believed her a little before I knew my wife wouldn’t do that. I transferred you from the hospital she knew, and brought you to Polson hospital. Hmmm mama is wicked.

We both cried and held ourselves and made proclamations of love one more time.
I was fully recovered and now it’s the time to deal with mama. I needed to show her my truest colour and the aspect I’m coming from cannot be understood. The first approach was the approach of a fake pastor and the move was the best. He dressed in his white garment with a bell and a KJV bible as he marched to Mabushi area in Abuja. Mama’s hairdresser could only afford to get a shop at Mabushi. Mama loves her for her tittle-tattle and things. Julius had walked into the street ringing the bell in a call for repentance that the kingdom of God was at hand. The noise was loud and calling thus many wanted to complain. It was the complain mode that brought mama out and that was the first …….
