MORE THAN LOVE 2

The text didn’t deliver till the next day. The drive to the hotel was like sightseeing. The driver was a talkative. The moment he knew that was my first time in Calabar, the stories began. How he fought in Biafra and how they killed his grandparents when the slave masters came to Calabar. He talked for almost twenty minutes before I pretended I received a call. That kept him mute for the rest of the trip.
The hotel lobby is big and luxurious . The attendants were of good manners as I was welcomed to the Tinapa continental hotel. My room was on the fifth floor and one of the attractions for this particular hotel was the free dinner at the futashi restaurant. It is always accompanied with some native dancers and my friend said they go nearly nude sometimes. I had a short nap after settling down and I got set for the dinner. I shut the door behind me as I slowly walked to the elevator to make the ground floor. I was with an older man. Like seventy; he looked at me and smiled. You came here alone, he asked? Yes I answered….. Business or pleasure? Who comes to Calabar in the middle of February for business? I said none

He kept quiet till we got to the restaurant and we sat together. The three course meal was on point and that particular evening was for jazz music. We started talking again.
Old man: so you left your wife and kids at home to make valentine alone in Calabar?
Barr mike: really my wife is so annoying to me right now, so I just travelled to clear my head.
Old man: he giggled for a laugh as he looked at me and said my son……… I’ve been here for two months now. My children are taking care of me. They felt I needed to run away from their mother based on her behavior when this illness of mine started.  Instead the illness always runs away from me when my wife is around.

Marriage: an institution created by God to check man’s tolerance. I tell you my son if you can’t forgive your wife for whatever she does, you can’t make heaven. God forgives us and we mess up more than our spouses. As a Christian emulate Godly principles and learn to forgive your wife. So tell me what did your wife do?
It’s being eighteen years  that I have been married and it still seems like I am getting to know her more and more. My wife is like a chameleon that changes her behaviour according to the weather. I met my wife in church. The popular Baptist church in Abeokuta. My dad was the organist then and her dad was the laity chairman. Just after my degree in London I came back to work in my father’s land and I met Patricia. She is a graduate of École Polytechnique in France where she read linguistics. My approach was fantastic and my looks were charming. It was obvious we were meant for each other. The next two years saw us going on with our sex scenarios over and over again. We exhumed all the affections within and laid it up on the plains of love.  We were love birds and heaven sealed it at that time.

She got pregnant before we got married. The pregnancy really facilitated the joining as the bride’s family wanted to conceal the protrusion in her before the whole world. I wished my father in law was alive, all these wouldn’t have happened. The wedding was magnificent as all dignitaries were there. Our honeymoon was in Gbadolite in Congo. Mobutu welcomed us into his mansion and we were there for two weeks. It was all yummy until the first child came and I became a second citizen.

That attention was lost wasn’t much of an error compared to the fact that my wife wasn’t ready for the future. She still expected us to do things like of old. We lived outside planning, had sex on daily basis, visit a club every fortnight, etc. it was the beginning of our lives thus I felt we needed to sacrifice some things to enjoy a better future. But for her the present counts a lot. I accepted some part of that but for some I had to be the head of the family.

And it came afterwards the rise of churches. Liars were now on parade in the name of God. With church names sounding like poetic scripts, and the philosophy changed from salvation to money. My wife was one of the first culprits. She became an addict in weeks and the attention shifted from the family to the church. She spent the whole day praying against enemies that didn’t kill her in her first twenty four years of living. Fasting became a regular which in turn reduced sex. Then I started being an adulterer.
The waiter brought a note for him and as I peeped I saw below General Tam. He picked up his phone and placed a call and it went thus: Tania, tell my wife to get set we are going to see the governor.
Young man….. I need to see someone now. Maybe we could finish this after breakfast tomorrow. Anyway my name is General Tam

MORE THAN LOVE

It was a season of love and the whole atmosphere was painted red. The Calabar city was setting up its carnival again. A town accustomed with enjoyments and wild sexual capacities waggling from the trails of the wonderfully made beautiful ladies that originated from the place. Calabar, a popular city on the coast of Nigeria is a pride the country cannot do without and the beauty and neatness of the town smelt out the aroma of love in the air. I wasn’t there for the same enjoyment others came for but I was there because I had to run away from my home.

The flight was delayed for two hours and the waiting lobby was getting fuller. I had to shift for so many people to get a place to sit and the last feminine body I felt was the answer to my problem. Tania is in her late twenties, but with a fully matured body. I am 6”2 and she is almost my height. Her courage spans beyond my imagination and confidently she told me to shift a little more for comfort. I willingly did. I looked at her with a smile not forgetting the days of youth and she smiled back. I’m Barr Michael Tisson and she replied Tania Adegoke. So what does Tania do? I’m a sex consultant she said and the conversation got better.

I wasn’t going to Calabar to look for sex I said earlier; but I was retiring out of my home for the boredom was extreme. I have been married for eighteen years and now I’m tired. My wife is also tired of me and I can remember I haven’t had sex with my wife in two and half years. It was just something out of the regular. My children are grown up and when I look at her in her late forties I get a bogus impression of mistake all around my thought.

Tania: so how long do you intend to stay in Calabar?
Barr Mike: till I can clear my head off all these……..
Okay I will help you she said and it was then the announcer called on flight no 657VC. “Arik flight from Lagos to Calabar”

I enjoyed my conversation with Tania. She reawakened in me the youthfulness and it was at this moment I realized the trip would be worthwhile. I got a seat at the fifth row but she had to go to the back thus I had to wait the whole one hour off a lady I just found that would make my trip a wonderful experience. I fastened my seat belt as the plane lifted off the ground and there was something I couldn’t forget …… “I’m a sex consultant”. What school teaches that course?

Two weeks ago, I had an argument with my wife and she started ranting at me yet again. I wondered how long I had to live with this woman under the same roof not thinking of how I feel. I had used up my life providing for her and the children and the little bit of love and respect I desire she removes it from me. I was so mad at her and sincerely for the fifth time I wished she was dead. I walked out of the sitting room holding a newspaper and slowly into our room. I tripped as I was about entering the room and nearly fell. In her local language she said…….. “If I like I should fall down and die”. Then I knew we had the same wish for ourselves but God won’t just permit that. The house was beautiful but the home was empty. There was no love between the two pillars of the home and then I knew it was something more than love that keeps people in marriages. What it was; I don’t know and I didn’t wish I was going to find it in Calabar but with Tania …………..

The plane landed and we had a short stroll into the arrival lounge of Margaret Ekpo airport. I looked around a while and saw Tania. She already had a cab coming to pick her thus we rolled together. She took me to my hotel which I had booked online but something changed as we got there. She dropped her bag also and checked into the room with me. The cab man was gone and I’m in a room with a sex consultant who doesn't seem to plan her exit in a short while. She opened her box and brought out tubes of cream and headed for the bathroom. I need a shower she said and through that transparent view of the glass I could see the wonders of her body. My body rose as I intend to shower almost immediately also but I know the law, thus I was calm.
She opened the shower door and asked me if I wouldn’t join her and speedily I pulled off my clothes as I made my way to the bathroom. I wet my body and clung to her soft body and the action was to begin………..  The old woman sitting beside me tapped me and said we are landing and then I knew I was just dreaming of Tania in my room. I looked around and the airport doesn't seem as neat as I expected. The cab expected was coming to pick myself and Tania were just dreams as a military car pulled over for her and I saw her drive off. The car stopped and she came down, walked over to me and handed her card over to me and said “I’ll be done with General Tam in three days; if you need my services send a text  message a day before”. I watched her shake her ass back into the car and off she went. I sent her a text almost immediately letting her know I want her services but ……….

PATIENCE IS RUNNING OUT 2

Extreme poverty in the midst of affluence would always produce conflict. An evaluative analysis has shown that the words of Karl Marx of old still persist today in our midst. He said there is a constant conflict between the bourgeoisie and proletariat i.e. the haves and the have-nots i.e. the rich and the poor. Sounded like a fallacious statement to some then but for those who accepted it, they would be sure of their thoughts right now on how far they can conceive ideas not yet reached and these things are evident to us living now.
SUBSIDY

We everyday see the minorities disagreeing over issues they think the majorities has cheated them with. Suburbs, trying to take over cities, tenants conflicting with landlords, the rich being kidnapped, corrupt individuals embezzling on constant basis, militants fighting against oppression and terrorist killing in the name of ........ e.t.c. These are just the way they can show their pains. Everyone wants to be better than the next person, so whichever way it comes they don’t care once I can show off to my neighbor I’m better off.
EXPRESS ROAD

The poor conflicting with the rich is not much of a problem to me like the rich in all aspects of life suppressing the poor not to rise? In Nigeria, a country richly blessed with abundance of oil, richness in agriculture, good weather condition and good brains e.t.c. one would now ask why would God give us all these resources and   also give us bad leaders. Our government i.e. the rich in our society have tried in their possible best to make life unbearable for the poor and here they come. Let us compare the following living conditions and we would see the irregularities in the things that are supposed to be regular.
THE STATE OF OUR NATION
Imagine some don’t have clean water to drink while some use bore hole water to wash their cars, while some don’t have transport fare some roll in convoy, while some can’t find a place to lay their heads others build bungalows for dogs, while some are looking for food to eat we most organize buffet and at the end wasting these foods, while some don’t have clothes to wear others fill their wardrobes with what they will never wear. In all these aspects of life we might at one time or the other found ourselves wanting or otherwise. Nigeria is the only country in the world that is fighting unemployment by extorting the unemployed to pay the little they are going to employ. A country where 7 billion naira is spent to discuss what the causes of our problems are. How much will it cost to solve them?
CANT WE ACHIEVE THIS?

The affluent Nigerians have made life unbearable for the poor. They are not aware of the poor around them like the rich man and Lazarus in the bible. Look around you for a moment and see how many people are suffering or rather don’t have what you have in excess, look at how many people are homeless, look at how many people are hungry and thirsty, look at how many people are naked, how many young kids are unable to afford education. How many are dropping out of school because of the state of our education. How many half baked graduates we produce every year (as if they baked themselves) sincerely the leaders of this country are running out of our patience and it would be worse for them than us. We will do whatever possible to get the bellow of success blow again in Nigeria. Enough of the failures

I call on the generous Nigerian youth; who has persevered in pains orchestrated by our failed leaders, who have been a victim of one of the several killings caused by the insecurity of our leaders, who have been denied a place of employment due to the fact that the rich owns the slot, who has queued endlessly at fuel stations based on the frivolity of our leaders, whose houses have been burnt, whose brothers and sisters have been killed while studying to help in building a better tomorrow,  Let us all build a land of new promise, let our street shout from the laughter of the people. Let wailing be a thing of the past, let the doors of education be open to the willing, let’s grant ourselves the ability to live together without fear. Our great texture of ethnic, religious and political diversity should be a blessing not a curse. We are a great raw material not war material. Let us quench the fire of fanaticism and accept the brotherliness that lies in this God built nation of ours.

and to our leaders .......................................................... PATIENCE IS RUNNING OUT!!!

PATIENCE IS RUNNING OUT

It is no longer news that Nigeria is at war against itself. Every day we try to proffer solutions to the existing characters in the play written by some script writers on the corridors of power. The movie called Nigeria is a tragedy; which at the end all will perish if the script won’t change. The present young generation must be allowed to pattern their future in all political arenas and it's time these fathers understand it's our turn.We are blessed with all forms of RAW materials but in turn we’ve developed them to WAR materials.

The Nigerian youth of today is a product of the failure of the generation ahead of us. We were indoctrinated into their selfish life of greed, corruption, composed inequality, godfatherism, ethnicity, brain drain, social injustice, unemployment, militancy and terrorism, lack of patriotism and marginalization. The results of all these have built a weakened youth in Nigeria who forgives without reasons called foolishness, who collects N500 to disrupt an election which would have bettered his life, who hates a fellow Nigerian because he is of another ethnic group, who understands scarcity of fuel and sees queues in our filing stations as normal, who applauds a governor for spending money he was given to spend, who claps for politicians who drill boreholes in their villages without providing a tap, who gather at political rallies with no manifestos delivered, who is told their money and future is missing in the hands of technocratic politicians and all we do is sit down and look, who sees the terrorist organization as the only option and attends to it.

But this must stop else ……… just yesterday the nation suffered a great blow, One that would affect the development of this nation extremely. Once again, the youths of this country are forced to loose hope in their mother land. The National Immigration Service organized a sacrificial test for over 500,000 youths in Nigeria. The test that demanded from the unemployed and suffering Nigerian youth the sum of N1000 as money for organizing it. A written test conducted in a stadium is a reflection of how the organizers think. The venues were filled to brim and unfortunately the zealous Nigerian youths who are ready to sacrifice themselves for the growth and development were sacrificed at the altars of the mistakes of these stupid politicians and organizers. I wish the son of Abba Moro was one of those that died and wonder if that irritating address he gave is what the families of the deceased should take as a comfort to the loss of their children.

Everyday lives are lost and soon we might be forced to demand our rights back from the state. We are tired of the state of decadence and every attempt to believe that something good can still come out of this warring nation, the defenseless youth is attacked again. The test which went wrong on Saturday the 13th of march 2014 have left some men widowers, some children motherless, some parents childless and pains spread to friends and well wishers. To colleagues they can’t believe that would be the last time they would see Mrs Juliet Akinlabi and when asked who killed them; the only answer is GOVERNMENT.

How long shall we continue to be sacrificed on this altar of failure?  Our patience is running out and we shall soon retaliate to save our future. The means of these retaliation shall be decided by the affected youths and when this happens……………………

The rich are safe but the poor are dying. In Benue state the governor was attacked but he escaped with the help of security personnel. In Adamawa state governor's attack, security rescued the situation as he also escaped but Fulani herdsmen have killed over eighty people in Benue. Same state securities rescued Gov Suswam. Boko haram have killed dozens in Adamawa. Same state Gov Nyako was rescued. Same securities that rescue the rich left the school dormitory in Yobe and this led to the death of secondary school students. Those kids were defenseless, they are the supposed great leaders of our nation wiped off by the negligence of some people.

i know a change is imminent and when it starts, there won’t be a beagle blown. All affected would bounce on those that supposedly affected them and anomie would be the case. Our patience is running out; those in power…….. BEWARE.

MY JAPA- STORY EPISODE 2

Ahmed and Awa dared to dream beyond their familiar streets, in the heart of Kano, wedged between the bustling Bompai Road and vibrant Kofar ...
